Getting Ready for the New Year

About eight years ago, I stopped recognizing January 1st as the New Year. I was a year into being a serious Kundalini yogini when I decided to take advantage of the center’s Universal Kabbalah courses. I started by reading Lifting the Veil, a book that offers a very practical take on spirituality and personal power as well as bridging Eastern and Western thought without negating the other.

Since then, I’ve been using my birthday (and the day of the week I was born) as my personal calendar to set goals and live more in tune with the seasons. At first, it was all a bit hokey to me, but the more I studied and applied it to real life the more things made sense and became easier for me.

The most interesting about this is that I’ve also been able to find and create work that reflects the changing seasons and cycles. Spring and summer are my major work seasons, with projects tapering off in the fall and me “hibernating” during the winter (hibernating as in, moving from projects that are mainly outdoors to online projects and/or in warmer climates).

So, in addition to the usual “spring” itinerary – cleaning, cleansing, new exercise routine – I’ll be preparing for projects related to farming, mainly, my CSA’s operations, and marketing for a few farmers.

What’s in store for you this spring?
