Grow Yourself: Say Hello to A Stranger
When was the last time you made purposeful eye contact with someone you didn’t know, smiled, and wished them a good day?
We’re all connected socially, but disconnected in our interpersonal communications.
We’re comfortable sharing the intimate, the profound, and the who-really-cares-what-you’re-doing-now moments of our lives online, but actual, face-to-face interaction? Hmm, when was the last time you told someone how you really feel?
This week, let’s see what happens when we say hello, just because.
Say hello, good day, good evening, or some other pleasantry to at least three strangers a day, or even to someone you pass regularly on your way to work, coffee, or in the elevator but never speak to.
There are two parts to this assignment:
First, to experience yourself being open and aware of your surroundings and the people in it.
Second, to share yourself without expectation. That’s right. I want you to greet someone without the expectation that they will respond back to you.
It doesn’t matter if or how they respond or not.
This exercise is for you, not them.
